The city of Rock Hill is located about 24 miles southwest of Uptown Charlotte and is part of York County South Carolina. This city is also the 4th largest city in the state. Rock Hill covers only 31.1 sq. miles but is considered a city in its own right and its easy access to Charlotte makes it all the more attractive for living and working. One of the beauties of a city like this is that the attractions (of which there are many) of this city are easily available as well as those of Charlotte and all its amusements and opportunities.

Rock Hill gained its name for a rock obstruction encountered by the railroad while building a track to connect the city of Charlotte to Columbia. The city actually formed because much of that hill had to be removed in order to continue the rail line construction. People set up camps, and that eventually grew to a settlement. This area has developed into a great area to live no matter age race or status and Rock Hill made significant contributions during the 1960s to the civil rights movement.

Rock Hill has a proactive city government and policies that are intended to encourage the recent population and business boom. The city itself includes 11 different park and trail systems 5 different recreational complexes and this is just the public parks. Rock Hill reported a respectable and population of 65,000 as of the 2008 census. This is just large enough to provide plenty of employment and recreational opportunities and yet small enough to get around in with ease.

This town is served by 27 public education institutions for grades K - 12. There are numerous private parochial schools available for this age group as well. There are three colleges within the city as well. Winthrop University is a four year institution offering both graduate and undergraduate degrees, Clinton Junior College is a 2 year college and York Technical College is also a 2 year college in the area that offers continuing education courses as well.

Rock Hill Real Estate can best be described as a middle ground between Charlotte Real Estate and the busy metropolitan area and the typical recourse of a suburban community.
